J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Groupon (Chicago, IL) en déc. 2015
Entretien
The interview itself was 5 hours long! They didn't want to phone screen me first.
Now leading up to the interview was another story entirely. I think they really drive their recruiters hard, to the point where it's unattractive to an interviewee. Here's what I mean.
First recruiter gives me an unsolicited call. I say I might be interested, set me up with a phone screen with groupon. He sets me up, and only afterward lets me know that this phone screen isn't something I can just do on my cell phone, it's a one hour interview with a screen share required. I say I need to pass now, let's keep in touch.
Two days later a second recruiter calls. Says he's taking over the first ones accounts and he's my new point of contact. He's out of California, the job is out of Chicago and he doesn't seem to know much about the location of the place or any details like that which I am actually interested in. I say I'm not interested in interviewing in the next month and that I'm driving so I can't look at my calendar now. He continues to pressure me for 20 minutes until I finally relent and say I might be able to do an interview in a week. He signs me up as a solid yes. I try to call back the next few days to tell him I have a conflict and he doesn't respond. Eventually I get a call from Groupon the day before that interview to iron out the details and I tell them I still don't want to do the interview and (diplomatically) that there is something wrong with their interview chain of command. They are finally able to process that information.
A couple days later I actually do set up an interview with a groupon recruiter who actually works with Groupon. Again, they're interested in getting me in there asap, basically first thing in the morning after I finish my current job. Then it's an all day affair, 5 hours with various people.
They come on really hard with the recruiting process. It made me wonder why they have to do that, are they losing developers left and right? My skills aren't super amazing but they really wouldn't let me pause for a minute with this process.
