J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Amazon (Berlin) en févr. 2025
Entretien
One-on-one meeting with a scientist. Started with general questions about my PhD, then about a specific paper. Several general ML questions (ex: supervised vs unsupervised vs reinforcement learning). Then I was asked to code the K-means algorithm in Python. I did not focus on the exact language syntax but instead wrote the main steps of the algorithm (in a mix of python and pseudo-code). Last 10 minutes were available for me to ask questions.
Questions d'entretien [1]
Question 1
What is the closed-form solution of linear regression, when is it better to use gradient descent? Time complexity of matrix inversion?
Applied for Amazon AGI. After first round, it will go into full round of multiple interviews. Lots of modern LLM training technic questions. There are still some behavioral questions, but less than general Amazon roles.
Interviewed with 1 phone screen, 1 coding, 2 ml design and 2 lp rounds. Most questions were non-leetcode questions more related to day to day ml implementations. The questions were very practical.

Entretien
The interview for the Applied Scientist position primarily focused on three core components: technical questions regarding machine learning, a live coding assessment, and a detailed review of my professional experience.
