The process took a little longer than usual as I didn't realise that Amazon had emailed me due to their emails going to my junk inbox. However, it started with an online application, followed by online tests and a video interview. The last stage consisted of four 30 minute interviews with various managers within the business, ranging from an Operations Manager (your line managers manager if you was successful), Health and Safety Manager, HR Manager and a Shift Manager. To be honest, it's not entirely accurate to call them 'interviews' as you're made to feel so welcome and at ease, I just felt as if I was 'catching up' with a colleague. Furthermore, I was impressed with Amazon as they covered the costs for my travel and accommodation from London to Manchester. To help prepare for the interviews, I would suggest that you understand Amazon's 14 Leadership Principles and think of examples when you've applied them to any work or university situations. Despite the aforementioned positive experience, my overall experience interviewing with Amazon was ruined when it come to the feedback. Upon leaving the interviews, the candidates and I were informed that we would receive an email if we were unsuccessful or a phone call if we were successful. We were further informed that we would have an outcome within 2 - 5 working days. After the 5th day I'd heard nothing and expected the worse, despite how well I believed the interviews went. I emailed the recruiter who'd be assisting me throughout the process and was told to wait a few more days. After approximately 9 working days, I received an email from another recruiter asking me the best time to call me the next day. Based on what I was previously informed, I was excited and expected to be offered a position. However, I was informed that whilst I been successful in passing the interviews and had 'extremely positive' feedback, Amazon were not able offer me a position as they had not anticipated how many internal promotions would take place. I was further informed that I "should not wait around" as the business can not give approximate time scales as to when they may have a position for me. I was totally gutted and to be honest would of expected more of the business or, at the very least, informative and developmental feedback.
