My interview experience left much to be desired. The most disheartening moment came when the hiring manager pointed out what they considered a red flag on my resume – my 9-month tenure at a previous company. Despite explaining that I left that position for an international opportunity, it seemed my explanation fell on deaf ears. Curiously, the position I applied for had been vacant for over four months. If my short stint at that company was a deal-breaker, I wonder why they proceeded to invite me for a video interview instead of simply rejecting my application via email. It felt as though the decision had been made before I even had the chance to speak. I hope in the future, the hiring process can be more transparent and professional, saving candidates and the company alike valuable time.
