My hiring was done directly through my ex -boss from service support and a Japanese business manager. What I noticed in my time is that mostly HR followed a criteria of short listing candidates of low wages or major traveling irrespective of the knowledge level or skills.
Idea is to fetch a striver and grill him /her down on the basis of strong brand value

It was a Hirevue interview first, and then I was offered a Zoom interview - it was quick but asked normal interview questions: strengths, weaknesses, why Sony? They also based questions on cover letters and cv.
