An IBM recruiter reached out 2 months after I submitted my application. She set up a phone interview with a Design Lead but failed to give him the job description. He didn't know what position I was being interviewed for until he mentioned that in the last few minutes. We had a great conversation despite that. I emailed her and asked to schedule a 15 minute talk with her to answer my questions about the interview process. We agreed on the following week, but she never set it up. Next she set up a call with a Design Manager. Went very well and he was able to answer questions about the interview process. He discussed what would happen as I continued with the interview process. I waited to hear from her, but never did. After a week, I emailed her and asked if there was any update. She never responded. That was almost a month ago. I did learn that it doesn't matter what design position you apply for. They just interview you as a designer and then will see what department has a need and you're a fit for. Odd hiring practice, so it makes sense to explain that up front to people that are spending time preparing for these interviews.
