      Entretien pour Android Software Engineer

      Candidat à l'entretien anonyme
      San Francisco, CA
      Aucune offre
      Expérience négative
      Entretien facile

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Fitbit (San Francisco, CA) en déc. 2015

      Entretien

Interview process was pretty good and quick. However the team was highly unprofessional. I had one phone screen, and immediately after the phone screen they notified me that things went great and they want to schedule an online interview with 3 pairs of individuals (so, 6 total individuals) for 1 hour per pair of interviewers. The interview questions they asked me during the onsite interviews were pretty easy and rudimentary. I feel I did well, if not great. However after the 2nd round (of the total 3 rounds that I was supposed to have), recruiter/HR coordinator came to inform me that the 3rd round will not be taking place as the "person who is supposed to interview me is sick". I knew right then that they don't see me as a fit and have decided to save an hour of their time by walking me out earlier than scheduled. There were a couple of things that made their story (of the person being sick not add up) 1. It was supposed to be a pair interview, so if one person was indeed sick they could have either found a replacement for one person or just have one person of the pair interview me. 2. They were in a haste to walk me out. 3. Totally rude to me. Even though they told me words like, "Ohh we apologize. We should have checked this person's calendar" and "Your recruiter will be in touch with you shortly", I knew that was the end, and truly I wasn't disappointed because I had made my mind to not take that position even if it were offered. I just didn't like the fact that they had to lie to me. They could have been honest and told me that I wasn't a good fit. They forgot that I too had invested my time to meet with them, so I deserved a little courtesy from their end. And as expected, I never heard back from them after that day. So much for "your recruiter will reach out to you shortly". I honestly feel that i did well on the interviews but I think there could be a couple of age/accent/appearance/ethnicity related reasons that they decided to not continue with the process. I was left disappointed with their lies and unprofessional attitude.

      Question 1

Even though I didn't sign any NDA as far as interview questions go, and despite the fact that they were unprofessional I don't think it is right on my part to reveal the questions. All the questions they asked were really easy though.

The interview process is pretty quick, but this company and its engineers+ middle managers are as unprofessional and cocky as they come. They have an attitude of a top engineer (or manager) working at one of the FAANG companies, but don't have the substance to back it up. The onsite was as easy as they come, but because I am a person of color (with an accent), most of the engineers and managers seemed reluctant to hire me from the get go. I know the solutions I provided to interview questions were above the bar, and would have got me hired anywhere else. With 12 years in the valley, I can tell when I am having a bad interview vs a good interview. Fitbit interview panel stopped my interviews after 2 (out of 4) rounds, and the HR\Recruiter lied on my face saying that there is an urgent meeting and they'll have to cancel the interviews. What a bunch of BS....when I was being walked out, it didn't seem like there was any such urgent meeting. Clearly they were not happy with either (1) My color, (2) My accent), (3) My age (early 30s). I never heard back from HR after they walked me out. 3 weeks after this interview, I got a job offer each from 2 of the FAANG companies. I gladly took the offer from F of the FAANG companies as an Android Engineer, and am so thankful that Fitbit didn't want to hire me. They deserve the mediocre engineers and managers, and it shows in their stock performance. If I am good at cracking 2 out of 2 FAANG interviews, I certainly know I am good for Fitbit, but they didn't think so - L.O.S.E.R.S
