      Entretien

Discriminatory, rude and offensive I filled out an application online for a position Travel counselor working from home. I didn’t expect anyone to contact me, but someone called and asked me some questions. She said it is important to know Sabre reservation system and I promised I would refresh my memories, since I haven’t used it for years. She called me more times always asking me the same questions without remembering my answers. I found very strange that they require you to have a camera and to see you, although you apply for home based position. Finally, she scheduled an “official” phone interview, again asked me some of the same questions and few others. I have years of experience in the travel industry and answered positively all questions, showing my knowledge and readiness to work all hours, all days. I also met all their requirements related to the computer. Despite her positive reaction to my answers (perfect, good, etc), I received an email that I am not selected to continue further. The only reason could be that I have a foreign accent and her decision was based exclusively on her personal subjective opinion to reject candidates not born Americans. Because of my accent she didn’t give the chance to fill out the assessments, I didn’t need to memorize all Sabre codes she requested. I understand that she has to pretend working, to justify her high salary, but it was offensive and unfair to give me false hopes that I could be hired. She purposely didn’t give me a chance to continue. No one else called or evaluated me. My life and future were in the hands of unprofessional and biased person.
