I met with the interviewer over Amazon chime for a 60 minute “phone screen”. Amazon chime continuously crashed throughout the interview. The interviewer arrived late and told me they had bad cell and internet reception. We continued the interview anyway which required us both to repeat everything 10-15 times to each other because the connection was so choppy. I was told to prepare for STAR behavioral type interview questions but the interviewer decided to throw in a pop technical quiz halfway through the interview and challenged every line of my resume. The process seems to be extremely slow and they will avoid answering any questions about salary or job expectations. They are also keen on making sure you’re willing to relocate even if the position is remote.

Pretty much what others have said...tons of "behavioral" questions that I had to find a story to sort of fit. "Describe a major business decision I made without any input"? I write documentation, what the heck? No discussion of my writing or request of writing samples to see if I could actually write. I spent several days coming up with 10 or so scenarios to try to fit into Amazon's leadership principles. I mentioned an initiative that I was particularly proud of and interviewer said, "it sounds like it didn't work." Not sure how she got that impression, but there was no point getting defensive. Honestly a humiliating experience. I had other interest in my resume recently, and I am so discouraged right now that I said no.
