The evolution to software defined networking, and our evolution to a cloud operating model together with the emergence of new automation technologies will enable us to take our customers’ service experience to the next level. Automation and orchestration will also be pivotal in mastering the increasing complexity of our environment and in our pursuit of the highest levels of operational excellence.

Inspired by principles of Service Reliability Engineering (based on Google SRE), we apply software engineering methodologies and frameworks to solve problems, manage production systems, and to automate repetitive operational tasks, in order to achieve “reliability at scale” in our daily network operations.

Our “Network Applications, Orchestration and Automation (NOA)” team is part of the Network and Infrastructure Service Assurance organization, and supports vital network applications and activation platforms that sit close to the network and infrastructure. In addition, we drive for a unified approach towards automating operational tasks, in line with the company automation strategy. We want to make automation easy for our fellow teams by operating the orchestration platforms that enable their operations to scale, by deploying software development resources for their projects, and by supporting them with the appropriate guidelines & frameworks

Your mission :

For our journey ahead we want to strengthen our team with a Service Reliability Engineer whose responsibility will cover all or a subset of the following areas, in function of previous experience, affinity with the topics & willingness to learn and grow:

• Operating our vital network applications & orchestration platforms (manage production systems, including participation in the on-call organized by our team);
• Assess, design, implement and test software platforms, applications, and system management software in collaboration with colleagues;
• Ensure that systems, network services and applications are always available and secure in a maintainable way;
• Evaluate current implementations, propose and implement improvements
• Architecting and designing orchestration & automation applications in order to manage our production systems efficiently and with an eye on the future;
• Execute warranty and support tasks;
• Align with other network automation initiatives within client and our Managed Service Providers
• Technology research to enable us to serve our customers with state-of-the-art technologies and top-notch services
• Lead by example, and inspire & support our fellow teams in operating our production systems with an “automate first” approach

Must haves :

• Strong experience with Linux system administration and TCP/IP networking
• The mindset, skills and experience to include cybersecurity into every aspect of your daily practice

By preference :

• Experience with network applications including DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Radius/Diameter, SMTP, POP3/IMAP;
• Experience with shell scripting and/or other high level languages like Python, Perl
• Experience with databases like MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL
• Experience with managing (not developing) Java applications

Is a plus :

• Experience with Software Defined Networks (SDN)

Language requirements: English mandatory
