For Solar Energy Industries Association's Community Impact Day, we’re highlighting the difference solar power is making in Puerto Rico. We partnered with Empowered By Light and WindMar Home to install hashtag#solar and hashtag#batterystorage at Portal de Amor, a children’s home that provides shelter and support to 20 children. With the new solar and storage system, Portal de Amor’s Executive Director Ingrid Pietri says their electricity bill has been reduced by 90%. “The solar system has been a blessing. With the new solar energy system, we can continue offering our services with peace of mind and know that our children will not have to suffer when the power [grid] goes out on a hot night, and we do not have to worry about the electricity bill continuing to be so expensive.”—Ingrid Pietri #5MillionSolar #SolarPowers
#TeamSunnova recently gathered at our Houston HQ for a volunteer event inspired by the incredible story of Faris D. Virani – a young boy who, despite battling a rare form of bone cancer, shared his gifts with other children in the cancer unit. In honor of Faris, affectionately known as JuJu, we hosted a Good JuJu Party with the help of The Faris Foundation where we came together to wrap Good JuJu Care Packages for children in need. We had a great time spreading a little extra JuJu into the world. ❤️🎁

Two years ago, a significant energy bill quietly made its way through California's legislative process, altering the state's electricity billing system at the urging of the investor-owned utilities. The CPUC has just adopted a $24 fixed monthly charge, which will increase bills for 4 million California ratepayers, disproportionately impacting low-energy users. In California, utility rates consistently rank among the highest nationwide, placing a significant financial burden on residents. The new CA $24 fixed charge is double the national average, consumers deserve the freedom to choose their energy service provider, allowing them to explore options that suit their needs and budget better, like solar. It's essential to prioritize consumer empowerment, protect against these unfair regulations, and help protect working families from utility greed. Read on in Los Angeles Times. ⬇️
