Just beyond the pulse of Music City, the new Sumner County Courthouse establishes a commanding civic presence in historic downtown Gallatin. Thoughtfully composed to complement Main Street’s enduring red-brick vernacular, the five-story, 210,000-SF facility unifies the Circuit, Chancery, Criminal, and General Sessions Courts within one highly efficient, purpose-built environment, while a fully shelled floor strategically anticipates future expansion. The result is a disciplined, future-ready civic building that harmonizes timeless architectural expression with modern performance standards. It stands as a confident, enduring landmark, setting a new tempo for the county’s next chapter. #SSOEsoutheast
Scholarship serendipity. Each year, SSOE proudly sponsors the Alpha Xi Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha’s MLK Scholarship Breakfast, uplifting young men as they pursue higher education and carry forward Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream. This year, we celebrated their hard work and promise with an unexpected full‑circle moment. Pictured center is Brayden Miller, whose scholarship was supported through our sponsorship—only to discover he’s the grandson of SSOE retiree Ray Miller! A legacy reconnecting, a future rising. #MLKDay #SSOEcares
Modern workforce readiness requires a new lesson plan. Industry expectations are evolving faster than traditional education can adapt—widening the gap between the classroom and the workforce as advanced manufacturing demands greater complexity, scale, and digital fluency. A leader in AI utilization and Workforce Development, SSOE will explore how industry-aligned, technology-driven training environments better prepare talent for the realities of modern work at the SCTEA Conference Thursday, February 12th at 4:00 PM – 4:50 PM. Drawing from pioneering technical college projects, experts Adriane McGillis, AIA, NCARB and Tim Swartz, AIA, NCARB, share how flexible learning spaces are being designed to keep pace with an increasingly complex economy. #SCTEA #SSOEsoutheast #WorkforceDevelopment
Celebrating Centennial. 2026 marks 100 years of Black history commemorations. What began as a single week established by the ASNLH has grown into the modern-day Black History Month—rooted in the belief that Black history must be preserved and shared. This milestone reminds us that history is an active practice, not a passive archive. As we reflect and celebrate how far we've come, we honor where we started by reaffirming our responsibility to carry the work, stories, and voices of Black Americans into the next century. We push forward together, united in the purpose, courage, and determination that brought us this far. #BlackHistoryMonth #SSOEcares
Building belonging, strengthening teams. Collaboration is the cornerstone of our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts—within our teams and across the communities we serve. By empowering diverse voices and working together through initiatives like Employee Resource Groups and cross-functional partnerships, we’re building stronger, more resilient teams rooted in respect for people. We’re excited to launch season two of our podcast, A Blueprint for Equity, with a fresh episode coming in February. #BlueprintForEquity
When care is scarce, education becomes an act of service. Born from Georgia’s healthcare and maternal care gap, Hopkins Hall at Agnes Scott College is now a Hall‑mark for healthcare education. For 73 years, the hall has supported students—first as a residence, now as the home of the Mary Lou Cornwall Hawkes ’65 and James B. Hawkes Physician Assistant (PA) Program—carrying forward its legacy of service while equipping students to deliver it in new ways. Ranked the 2026 #1 Most Innovative School by U.S. News & World Report, the restored hall boasts simulation labs, clinical exam suites, and collaborative classrooms for immersive, hands-on learning from community health to pediatrics. #InternationalDayofEducation #SSOEsoutheast
ATL progress in motion: This Urbanize Atlanta article covers the much-anticipated construction start of Trinity Central Flats, a major affordable housing project aimed to deliver deeply affordable, sustainable housing while revitalizing a long-vacant downtown block. Designed by SSOE, the 10-story, 218-unit mixed-use project integrates housing, street-level retail, and resident amenities on a constrained, transit-rich civic site across from Atlanta City Hall—demonstrating our ability to deliver complex urban housing solutions balancing affordability, performance, and community impact. #SSOEsoutheast
Proceedings proceed with the groundbreaking of the $80.2M Petersburg Courthouse, a new downtown courts complex set to reshape the docket. The facility will consolidate the General District, Juvenile & Domestic Relations, and Circuit Courts; enhance acoustics; support modern digital evidence; and strengthen on‑site security—bringing order to the court for more than 30,000 cases annually. Designed with CPL, the courthouse draws from the Greek Revival legacy of the historic Hustings Courthouse, balancing precedent with progress. The judgment will stand once operations begin in 2027: case closed.
Over half a century later, Dr. King’s most persistent and urgent question still calls to us: “What are you doing for others?” At SSOE, our teams answered with action. Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., employees used their “day off” to serve their communities—working at local food banks, packing Dream Kits for students, and cleaning up downtown neighborhoods in Columbia, Toledo, Portland, and Atlanta. #MLKDay #SSOEcares
For SSOE, MLK Day is more than a day off—it’s a call to serve. As the nation’s only federal holiday recognized as a National Day of Service, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life’s work by carrying forward his commitment to justice, equality, compassion, and service to others. We encourage every employee to give back through meaningful acts of service in their communities, strengthening connections and helping bridge divides in the spirit of Dr. King’s enduring legacy. #MLKDay #SSOEcares
