Applied online and received an email a few weeks later to set up a phone interview. I did a phone interview with recruiter before so it was just a quick go over resume and set up in person interview. That was nice however she told me I needed to be more detailed in my behavior based questions. Sorry I have a bad memory and don’t make up stuff I don’t remember but that’s what they want. In person interview was a week away. They keep telling you to relax and you’re interviewing them as much as they’re interviewing you and that it’s laid back. It isn’t. Recruiter sends you emails emphasizing to know your stuff about Vanguard and questions you’ll be asked. Helpful but came off very strict and off putting. In person interview was 2 hours long. You start off in a group of other candidates. Then go in a room and watch a presentation. A few managers came in to observe and everyone was faking questions to make it sound like we wanted the job so badly. Then the next phase was one on one interview. The way it was formatted with different sections with different people I didn’t have time to have a connection with anyone. It was hi I’m gonna ask a couple questions and then we are moving on. After the brief one on one interview that felt very rushed I had to do a case study. It was 4 pages long and a few questions to answer. Was suppose to have 15 minute to go over but the next manager came in after I only read the first page and explained that we are running behind. I gave him my answers after telling him I didn’t have enough time but he didn’t seem to care. Then I got whisked away for next phase which was the tour. Had to wait for one other person in our group for over a half hour so we just sat there awkwardly in the hallway wasting time and job didn’t start until months later so no one is gonna remember all the departments by the time we start. Did the tour like we were all gonna receive job offers except a few days later I received an email telling me I didn’t get the job which I’m quite relieved after my negative interviewing experience with Vanguard.

It was a relatively straight forward interview with questions centered around the company's mission and values. You should prepare for questions about Vanguard and how it differentiates itself from competitors

Interview was broken up into two parts with two different interviewers. First interview lasted about 45 minutes and was asked all the traditional behavioral questions, approx. 10-12. Every question I was asked was some variation on all the questions I saw posted on this website. Nothing caught me off guard. Second part of the interview was a role play with a supervisor, calling a disgruntled customer to let him know there was a minor problem with his transaction.
