J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris plus d'une semaine. J'ai passé un entretien chez VMware (Bengaluru) en nov. 2018
Entretien
HR contacted me through LinkedIn. I was a bit sceptical about the company since I was from a startup, but I decided to try it out anyway.
Had 5 interviews back to back in 5 hours.
The first interviewer asked me to code a question in trees and he looked like he was unfamiliar with the approach I used. He could barely understand code. At the end of the interview, his answer was ‘Some cases will fail’ and when I asked which cases, I was struck by his reply: ‘No... some cases will fail. Anyway we are out of time, I’ll ask next interviewer to meet you’.
Out of the 5 interviewers, 3 of them had no idea what questions to ask. One of them even went as far as saying ‘I’ve run out of questions now’ and the only questions he asked were time complexity calculations. Guy asked for proof by induction. Can anyone ask for more bookish knowledge?
After 5 interviews, some guy came and said ‘There are 2 more interviews, but HR went to pick up her kid, so you can “make a move”. She will contact you and you can come back again another day’.
By the end, I was so tired and I was glad to leave and not interested in coming back.
The people didn’t seem to have solved interesting production problems and they had very bookish knowledge, which was pretty obvious in their questions. It was very different from my current company which is a startup and you work on complex problems everyday. This is not a place to be if you like the fast-paced startup environment.
Had a call with the hiring manager who only seemed interested in why I was leaving my previous job and not what I have been working on or my skillset. At the end of the call I didn't seem like that was a good impression and decided not to pursue.
