Applied online and a recruiter got back to me almost immediately. The phone screen with the recruiter was the typical conversation on my background, why the Bay Are, why Slack, the process, etc. The recruiter was engaging and personable, and very transparent about the process. I found this to be very atypical of the Bay Area recruiters. At the end of the call, she said she wanted to move me on to the next round with the Hiring Manager.
In speaking with the Hiring Manager for the role, he was very transparent about his role, his teams, and what he was trying to accomplish with this role. His questions on my background were a bit intrusive and off-putting - "Why didn't you stay longer in the role?" It came across as guarded in wanting to fill the open role.
Overall a decent experience, collaborative and passionate people doing great things at Slack. The questions from the hiring manager left a funny taste in my mouth.
