Short and sweet -I was simply asked about expectations for salary. I indicated a figure that was on the higher end of their posted range for this position, but still 10K BELOW the top of their range. I was told right away that figure was outside of their budget. I indicated I was baffled as this was an amount within range of what they had on the job posting. The interviewer sounded exasperated, moreso I feel bc she was forced to explain why their budget did not match the posted range for probably the 30th time that week.
They were not interested in hearing why I was worth an amount above their budget (but again, within their range), and I never applied again to this company and never will. Not cool. Manulife HAD the information but felt the need to post false information. Like... just be upfront and stop wasting everyone's time? Prospective employees are getting really sick of getting dicked around.

The role is global role but base in HK. I was passed the interviewed with Japan and US. And their HR was collected my current company pay slip, the latest IR 56 form and we are completed the salary negotiation phase.
But after the salary negotiation process finish, another HR jump in and call for another HR interview. The HR she was join the call late, and she was feel very rush in the call and we only had 21 minutes interview time. The application was through the headhunter and suppose the salary negotiation was complete and she ask me to tell her my expected salary and she said her style like to bypass the headhunter and I must direct discuss with her. After I told her my expected salary, whatever I said and 15% or drop to 10% expected salary increase compare with my current salary, she keep saying too expensive and they will not accept that increase rate.
After the 21 minutes call, the headhunter came back the comment from her, the headhunter said she said I don't have people management experience, so she will turn down my process, even I was passed couple round interview with the US and JP team. But for this role it was just only "Senior Analyst" and this is a technical role and the JD also not require people management experience.
So their HR process was wasting time.
