I sent in my application through an ad on LinkedIn. I was contacted within days to complete a short cognitive ability test. Shortly after completion, I was invited to a brief Skype interview with HR. We talked about my resume and expectations for the job, and it seemed like a first "screen" to see if my experiences matched the position.
After the initial interview, I was invited to talk to the manager of the team. This interview was a little bit more involved, but still very friendly. The real challenge came afterwards, when I got to complete a prediction assignment (using R) and three more cognitive ability tests. All of these tasks were quite difficult, and I spent about five evenings on them.
Finally, after good results on the tasks, I was invited to Sweden for face-to-face meetings. Klarna paid for the flight from London to Stockholm and offered to pay for a hotel as well (I stayed with friends and family however).
The meetings were efficient, professional and probing. I met with a representative from HR to talk about the company and their visions, then I met the VP of Credit Risk, the manager of the Predictive Modeling team and a senior member of the team. I was asked questions about my career so far, my ambitions for the future, I was given computational tasks to complete by hand in front of the interviewers (twice!) and we talked through the code I submitted for the prediction task.
Even though the process was very thorough and I had several Skype meetings as well as face-to-face meetings, it was efficient and there was not much waiting time. I got a job offer about four weeks after the initial application, and the contract was signed just a week later.
I've had a very positive experience from every single person I've been in touch with. I'm very impressed and look forward to working with Klarna next month!
