For me the interview process for the "Entry Level Hubspotter" position consisted of 4 stages. Each stage of the process seemed to be designed to capture more light on my personality and skills for the interviewing team. If you are successful following each stage then you move onto the next. The stages were as follows: 1.) The first stage consisted of me logging into a program to answer 6 questions that were recorded by video. The program allowed you 30 seconds to review the question and then 2 minutes to answer. 2.) Stage two was a 30-minute phone interview with a recruiter; my first recruiters name was David Fernandez. During our phone call David asked me a few personality and position related questions. I found our conversation to be extremely pleasant in the fact that he was very down to earth and made me completely aware that it was a two-way interview and to ask any questions I wanted to. 3.) The third stage consisted of two back to back 30 minute phone interviews with managers in the field in which I was applying for. After scheduling my interviews on the online calendar I first received a phone call from Nancy Grosvenor. Our phone call went very well. Nancy made me feel as if I was talking to a friend and someone that actually cared about what she was asking me instead of asking tricky questions. All of the questions seemed to be about my personality and who I am as a person. She also asked some company related questions. The second interview was with Cait Downey. She asked me the same idea of questions and seemed to have the same intentions of figuring out who I am as a person and what skills I have. 4.) A couple of days later I received an email from a new recruiter by the name of Noah Gilman. During a phone conversation he explained to me that both Nancy and Cait loved speaking with me and they wanted me to move onto the last and final interview! Noah then explained to me that the position in which I was applying for was one that started on May 23rd. Just a little in sight, I live in Delaware and that would have given me 3 weeks to figure out living arrangements, but there was no way that was stopping me from an opportunity to work for this amazing company. Noah also explained to me that Hubspot does not cover travel costs, again these are just little things that make you ask your self " How bad do you really want it". So that next week I found myself taking off of work and packing my bags to take on the 8 hour adventure. Once arriving at the Cambridge location I finally had the opportunity to start putting some faces to all of these wonderful people. First Noah, he gave me a tour of the building showing me the different work areas. After the tour Noah and I went into an office were we sat and talked about what my day was about to consist of. Three people then interviewed me, each lasting 30 minutes. First, Tim Uygungil: Tim and I's interview went great! I feel as if I was lucky to have him first because with all of my nerves twisting he put me at ease and made his interview extremely laid back and fun. He asked me a few personality questions and then a few technical questions with included scenarios. Second, Annie Schirmacher: She made me feel so inspired to take this opportunity and run with it. The interview was mainly informational and she explained career pathways with the company and how you have a choice to move around. She also left the floor open to any and all questions with I found really helpful. Third, Jim Hughes: Jim is a product specialist and prior to the on site interview I was given a list of 5 tasks that I had to complete. I had to show him how I manipulated the online portal to complete the 5 tasks. I was extremely prepared for this interview because of my studying habits. Jim seemed pretty impressed with how I explained myself throughout the process. After, I debriefed with Noah and was asked if I would like to drive up to the Portsmouth location to check out the office. Again, if you want something bad enough you do what you can to help out your chances. So I took the hour and a half drive and met with Addie and Leif who are two amazing people. A couple of days later I received a phone call from Noah explaining to me that I was not going to be given an offer due to my technical abilities. This was very unexpecting due to the fact that this job is exactly what I have done in the military for the past 6 years and felt as if I dominated the interview with the product specialist. In all I am able to say that if I could go back and change something I wouldn't because I gave the entire process my best. I can say that I took a lot from it and gained a lot of experience with all of the interviews and people. I really hope that one day I can work for a company as great as this one and I want to personally thank each and every one of you for the opportunity to become better.

First things first, it's clear why our team liked you so much--you are thoughtful, insightful, and your positive attitude is infectious. I would agree that Addie, Leif, Annie, Tim, and Jim are amazing, as are Noah and Dave, so I'm delighted to hear you had a great experience dealing with them. Most importantly, in addition to writing up this review, it's very clear you went the extra mile to interview with our team, so I would really like to send you something to thank you, do you mind pinging me (kburke at hubspot) or pinging Noah to let us know if that's okay by you? Thank you, sincerely, for both your service to our country during your time in the military and your kind and insightful write-up of your interview experience--I'm deeply grateful. -Katie Burke

I had a 3-step interview process that consisted of a brief phone call followed by a zoom demo consisting (quick chat and mock customer support call) and finished it off with an on-site 2 hour interview with 3 managers. The whole process was quick and efficient with awesome hiring managers that were very communicative and responsive. I had an awesome experience and would recommend anyone on the job hunt to apply to HubSpot.

They were looking to hire quickly - so the process was expedited. Interviewed late one week, and was interviewing in-person in the middle of the next week. (I am not local, I drove 6+ hours to be there) They had me interview with a few different people. Most of them were very pleasant. (Especially Caroline Ostrander & Lauren DeSoiza. Lauren in particular was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.) One of them, a former Apple Store manager, was not. Ultimately, the day after the in-person interview I was informed via e-mail that I was not offered the job. Disappointing, but not the end of the world. In the e-mail, I was told that they would provide some feedback on my interview performance if I wanted it. I figured that might be useful so I obliged. I e-mailed my HR contact asking for interview feedback. No response. I waited 7 days, and e-mailed him again. He replied this time and apologized, stating that he was very busy and got caught up with some other things. Okay. He gave me a date and time when he would call me back the next day. No call. I e-mailed again. No response. I attempted to call him a few times and left a message. No response. And each time I called, his phone went directly to voicemail, no matter the time of day I was calling. Not entirely sure why they say they offer interview feedback if they are obviously not actually interested in providing it. That and Apple store manager guy really soured me on my experience.

      Question 1

They asked a lot about customer service experience naturally. Also had me do a demo exercise with their website. It's been a little while, so I don't remember many specific questions that were asked.

Be ware! Things will move along quickly and then all of a sudden come to a halt. They pride themselves on having a great company culture but overlook highly qualified candidates who possess a substantial education and willingness to learn. The process is thought to be great initially when you go through the interviews and they will move you along. If one of the managers doesn't care for your style of answering questions or is intimidated by you, good luck moving on and getting an offer from the last round. Very false facade of what they preach and actually represent.

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to write a review and I'm sorry that you felt that your interview experience wasn't consistent throughout. Our goal is to be incredibly thoughtful about the methods by which we evaluate candidates' fit for the role, including considering feedback from a cross-section of interviewers with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Any decision made would be inclusive of the entire interview team, and includes a thorough debrief process. Regardless, I want to ensure our team is learning from candidates' experiences and will be sure you take your feedback back to the team. Thanks so much for investing the time to interview with us and best of luck in your next steps. Best, Becky
