I recently applied for a position through Capital One's website, and a recruiter reached out to me promptly. The recruiter was very helpful, which made the initial process smooth. However, my overall interview experience had some inconsistencies.
The job I applied for required only two years of experience and not a senior position, but the interview seemed to be geared toward a senior level position. While I was able to perform well, the interviewers appeared unaware of the actual job description, as the questions asked were not aligned with the role’s requirements.
In particular, during my system design interview, the interviewer seemed distracted and frequently moved off the video frame, requiring me to repeat myself multiple times. Additionally, my efforts to ask clarifying questions during the requirement-gathering phase were not well received. In contrast, the other interviewers were fully engaged, communicated effectively, and provided a positive experience.
Overall, while there were some positive aspects to the interview process, the misalignment between the job description and the interview, as well as the inconsistent engagement, left room for improvement.
