Screening call with HR went fine
Agreed on terms, keeping the overall compensation negotiable.
Initial technical round was advised based on Leadership principles. But the interviewer realistically asked me only scenario based question and I am beginning to honest, I nailed it. He then switched gears to technical and asked about Quantum resources in AWS, even though I do not have this in my resume and clearly stated to him that I do not have experience in this area. He then asked about very deep technical questions about IAM policies and I was wondering if I applied for an engg job by mistake. I get it, you can dig deep but how far in the technical well. Dig deep for a Principal role is about understanding concerns, risks. Align solutions to mitigate the risks and work with SMEs and Engg teams to get them implemented. Do I have to know everything and remember everything??
This is my second experience with AWS and just can’t get pass the first round..I really feel sorry for others who are much smarter and capable than me and have almost cleared all rounds but denied at the end without proper feedback or no feedback at all. All I hear is ..sorry, it’s internal. What the heck!!

One of my best interview experience among FAANG or MANGA. The recruiters, interviewers and mgrs are very professionals and I am impressed with the process (or mechanisms) of 2x5. First meeting is phone call and there are some tech issues with the amazon conference tool but it went good. Technical focussed and it went almost 50 minutes. Another call was scheduled after a week and I was essentially explained the process, some assignment with a scenario. Second interview/round - two weekes later I went to present for 30 min followed by a simulated customer engagement. Third interview/round - more of cultural fit or what amazon calls leadership principles. In this third round there are 5x interviews x 60 min and it was tiring to figure out time slots but very good experience. It took a month to finish. In 2-3 days, the recruiter pinged me and explained the status , next steps. .

Question 1
* Technical: Not specific to AWS but cloud, industry knowledge, * Presentation/Simulation/Assignment: Details are important, specific, data backed assumptions.. * Leadership Principles: Youtube, Google if your friend.
