Avantages

* Non-hyperbolically the best engineering in the industry, and getting better with new hires. * Very supportive and teamwork-oriented environment. Great place to jumpstart a career. * Compact engineering core keeps work environment tight knit. Still has some small-company vibes (bi-weekly boba, random "snack attacks") * Work is engaging and feels impactful, lots of room to leave your mark * Higher-ups very receptive to feedback and very transparent on "state of the union"-esque topics

Inconvénients

* Office is terrible, although not an issue for COVID/remote work * HR seems to follow industry trends instead of leading, as a result some efforts seem flat/bare-minimum (ex: D&I, COVID response) * Company looks to solve D&I in some divisions (engineering), but does not seem like much headway has been made

Avantages

Great teams made up of smart, motivated people. Databricks is an exciting place to work because it is part of the growing data and AI tools space. The benefits and income are also good overall.

Inconvénients

Databricks no longer feels like a startup. There are now multiple layers of bureaucracy, and leadership can feel territorial rather than collaborative. Over time, it can seem like business growth and internal politics have become stronger drivers than innovation or employee experience. For long-tenured employees, it may become harder to stay excited or feel challenged. Other companies may offer a more energizing environment.
