Senior Lifestyle is fortunate to have team members whose commitment goes far beyond expected. Among them is Sandra, a med aide and caregiver who has spent the past seven years supporting our residents with reliability, heart, and unwavering dedication. During a severe storm earlier this year, that dedication was put to the test. Heavy rainfall caused significant flooding around her home—water covered her front and backyard; the lake overflowed into nearby streets, and many houses in the area were surrounded by nearly two feet of water. Without hesitation, Sandra made it clear she was determined to get to work. “I’ve got to get to work,” she said—because for her, caregiving is more than a job. She used a kayak from her home to make her way through the flooded neighborhood, paddling until she reached an area where a car could safely meet her. Despite the difficult and unusual conditions, she arrived on time for her 3–11 shift and carried out her duties. At the end of the night, her son picked her up and kayaked from the car back to their home once the roads became passable again. Sandra’s actions reflect the extraordinary dedication she brings to her role every day. Her professionalism, even in the face of unexpected obstacles, embodies the commitment we are proud to see at our community.
Our dedicated team members across the country took part in a collective effort to celebrate Senior Lifestyle’s 38th anniversary with our Spirit Week! This week was full of fun, enthusiasm and resident engagement, and we want to thank everyone who took part to create meaningful memories and unforgettable experiences for residents and team members alike. We’d also like to acknowledge our IT department for their fantastic work that went above and beyond the call of duty. Their creativity and joyful spirit brought a new level of excitement to the celebration. Senior Lifestyle appreciates every member of our nationwide team for your continued commitment. Your positive attitudes and collaborative efforts are truly valued. We couldn’t do it without you, and we’re so grateful for you to be a part of the Senior Lifestyle family.
