Excited to share that ION sponsored the Futures for Kids Fun Run. It was a fantastic event where ten dedicated ION staff members participated in the 5k and 10k races. Pride month is an annual highlight in our ongoing efforts to improve Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at ION. And 2023 was no different! This year, ION participated in the New York City and London Pride marches on 25 June and 1 July, respectively. Some 50 LGBTQIA+ colleagues and allies – fellow employees, friends, families, and clients – proudly marched in each event. In both instances, our marchers held the ION brand high, wearing branded t-shirts and caps and carrying branded bags and flags in the company of an ION-branded van. The weather on each occasion was fabulous – no rain on our parade! On the contrary, ION lit up the routes – the fantastic music on our bespoke playlist inspired much dancing and mingling with fellow marchers and spectators. Spotlight on our proud employees during the month of June! “Since joining ION in 2018, I’ve always felt welcome and free to express my identity. As someone who worked for companies with a progressive pro-LGBTQ+ policy, it’s been a great surprise that ION has provided an environment that allows me to feel very comfortable, without any kind of fear. I thought there might be some workplace challenges, but my experience has fortunately been the opposite. In fact, ION even provided me with valuable accommodations and resources during a messy divorce that helped me immensely. This company went above and beyond to protect me and I’m very glad to work in a friendly, inclusive, and judgment-free environment. It’s also been nice to see ION commit to developing a Pride initiative and to see so many allies join in to support the community. During Pride month, we’re featuring some of our proud employees and their experiences within the ION community. “My journey at ION has been rather unique as I’ve explored my gender fluidity over the years. Whether I was presenting as more male or more female, I found that my colleagues were quite accepting. Fortunately, I was never treated poorly and I’ve always felt quite safe here. Being non-binary, there are always some nerves involved with presenting differently at different times. But ultimately I feel lucky that I can be myself in my work environment. I recognize that, being in London, I perhaps have an easier time than individuals in less accepting parts of the world, but my hope is that people don’t feel frightened to come out when and how they please.
