      In 2025, our teams and valued local partners worked across remote areas, urban cities, mobile clinics, classrooms, communities, policy spaces and more, all to improve the lives of dogs and cats. 🐕🐈 Alongside direct care, we strengthened long-term solutions: 🎓 Building professional capacity 📊 Supporting authorities with evidence and tools 🌱 Investing in education that helps prevent suffering before it starts. This included expanding learning resources for caregivers and professionals, empowering communities through knowledge-sharing formats, and launching our Companion Animal e-Learning Hub – practical guidance designed to multiply impact far beyond the places we work directly. The environments are often unpredictable. The challenges are complex. But one thing stays constant: Collaboration and people who care enough to keep going. 🤝

      FOUR PAWS 2025 Year in Review: Real impact for animals, powered by people. 🌍🐾 Producing our annual review means revisiting hundreds of hours of footage: scenes of hardship, resilience, and progress. It always raises a difficult question: Which of these stories represent an entire year of work? 🐻 Is it the rescue of two baiting/dancing bears in Pakistan? 🐶 Or the tens of thousands of stray dogs and cats helped across nine countries? In the editing room, we’re forced to choose. In our work, we never do. Every animal and every life matters. ❤️‍🩹 And here’s the part we want to underline for you: none of these achievements would have been possible without the people and partners standing behind us. 🤝 If you’ve ever wondered whether your contribution truly makes a difference, the answer is yes.       In July 2025, we made history: signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Argentina to jointly work towards ending the private keeping and commercial trade of big cats in the country. This landmark agreement set the stage for something truly extraordinary and led us straight to the former Zoo Luján. We knew extensive work awaited us: from setting up logistics, tents, and workspaces to surveying the site and meeting stakeholders and the animals. 🐾 But we didn’t hesitate. Within weeks, our expert team, led by Dr. Amir Khalil and supported by vets Julia and Frank from the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research, carried out 64 full health checks. The treatments were life-changing: ✔️ Castration of all male big cats to prevent breeding ✔️ Dental repairs for painful afflictions ✔️ Medical care for health issues and wounds caused by inadequate conditions Behind the scenes, the effort was just as intense: continuous coordination with local authorities, extensive paperwork, and international teamwork to make this mission possible. 🤝 Every detail mattered, because every life mattered! This mission united passionate professionals from around the world – and YOU, our community. Your encouragement kept us going even when challenges arose. 🌍 And we’re not done yet. Finding long-term, species-appropriate solutions for every animal is now our top priority, while ensuring that the animals are doing well on-site in the meantime. 🔍

      Behind every emergency rescue is a team of people facing not only physical challenges, but emotional ones too. 🦺❤️‍🩹 This year’s World Mental Health Day theme, “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies,” resonates deeply with our work at FOUR PAWS. 🌍 Our teams face extraordinary situations: rescuing animals from disaster zones, providing urgent veterinary care, and responding to emergencies around the world. 🚨 These moments are intense, emotional, and sometimes traumatic, for both animals and the people caring for them. Supporting mental health in these contexts is just as important as the rescue itself. 🧠 At FOUR PAWS, we provide: 🌱 Debriefings after missions 🌱 An Employee Assistance Program with certified psychologists offering confidential 1:1 support 🌱 Specialised 'Hostile Environment and Awareness Training' (HEAT) to prepare colleagues for and help them cope with critical situations 🌱 Flexible working arrangements to help teams recharge after critical interventions On this day, we honour the resilience of our teams and the importance of access to support, because caring for animals in emergencies begins with caring for those who protect them.

Each colleague brought a dish from their heritage, an object with personal meaning, and a story to share. From Portugal to Algeria, Vietnam to Chile, and regions across France, our table (and hearts) were full. 🍲💬👗 Moments like these remind us that FOUR PAWS is more than a workplace – it’s a community where we celebrate our differences and grow stronger together. 🌟

Here is how we spent our June: 🔍 We kicked things off with a Pride Scavenger Hunt! Colleagues at our Headquarters in Vienna searched for hidden items representing different LGBTQIA+ identities, while teams across sanctuaries, country offices, and remote locations joined in with their own versions – in-person and online via our digital Pride Library. 🌈 🎨 Dress loud, proud, and colourful? Challenge accepted! On June 26, we brought all the colour we could find to our Pride Dress Code Day! From HQ gatherings to local team celebrations, colleagues everywhere showed their true colours in support of the LGBTQIA+ community. 👗 📚 We also took time to learn, reflect, and grow. All month, our internal PAWSnet Pride page featured articles on LGBTQIA+ rights and inclusion, along with recordings of powerful Inclusive Culture Club sessions with our former colleague and drag artist, Candy Licious, and New York Times bestselling author Eliot Schrefer. 💬 Pride Month reminded us of what truly matters. We’re proud to foster a culture where everyone feels safe, seen, and supported – all year round. And we're only just getting started. ❤️

These self-organised groups are moderated by and for their members, ensuring a space that truly meets their needs.
