Edelman Financial Engines announced a $10 million commitment to establish the School of Financial Planning at Rowan University. For nearly 40 years, EFE has believed that great financial planning changes lives. This partnership reflects our commitment to ensuring the profession has the talented, passionate planners it needs to keep delivering on that promise. The demand for financial guidance is growing. “This week, we remember the bravery and sacrifice of those who were directly affected by the events of September 11, a day that reshaped our world and deeply impacted countless lives. We honor the memory of the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the resilience of the survivors and the courage of the first responders who risked everything to help others. Their strength in the face of adversity serves as a powerful reminder of our shared humanity.” Denitsa Balunis, Executive Sponsor, VALOR ERG & SVP, Corporate Strategy In commemoration of loved ones lost and those who served on September 11th, our colleagues are proud to join the 9/11 Day organization packing thousands of meals to deliver to local food pantries. Our VALOR Employee Resource Group more than doubled our volunteer participation this year, sponsoring 9/11 Service Day in Boston, Dallas, Philadelphia, Houston, and Tampa! Each volunteer is receiving an Edelman Financial Engines Challenge Coin, In Signum Gratiae, from our VALOR ERG in gratitude for volunteering their time to help others. Thank you to James Williams-Willis, CRPC®, Tracy Hopkins, Joena Bartolini Mitchell, James Kurtz and Pammi Bhullar, MBA for bringing colleagues together in your respective cities for a day of service and remembrance. Last weekend, our Asian Employee Resource Group at Edelman Financial Engines sponsored two Dragon Boat Teams on opposite sides of the U.S. coast! I had the honor to be part of the team here in Boston, and through sunshine, a brutal downpour, and rough currents we rowed merrily along winning our first heat, beating last year's 500meter time, and coming in 5th in our division. Being part of a Dragon Boat team accentuates the power of working together in unison towards a common vision. And through it rain or shine, I've loved getting to know my colleagues better, humor and all. Thank you, Jason Song for organizing our Dragon Boat Team in Boston, Jun Ni and Debarshi Barat for organizing the team in San Francisco and Raymond Ho for being an exceptional Coach! Till next year... Goooo EFE Hydras! Check out our team, EFE Hydras row merrily along the Charles River: https://lnkd.in/ejX2sZ8v #FromHereForward
This week, my colleague and VALOR ERG Co-Chair, James Williams-Willis, CRPC® presented a deep dive into the unique financial benefits afforded to Military Veterans, such as VA Disability, the Post-9/11 GI Bill, and VA home loans. The session was joined by colleagues at Edelman Financial Engines who are Veterans themselves or the partner or child of a Veteran. Several Financial Planners also joined the session, as part of continuing education and sharing insights they’ve learned in their own practice. It was a tremendous opportunity to bring visibility to financial benefits that often get overlooked for our Veterans and their families. Thank you, James Williams-Willis, CRPC® for sharing this information with our colleagues, and to Tracy Hopkins, Holly Ludwig, and Denitsa Balunis for championing these initiatives as part of the VALOR ERG leadership team! #FromHereForward

Thankful to have Mary Ann Ferreira, CFP®, CDFA®, one of Edelman Financial Engines’ retired Financial Planners, share her personal experience as the parent of a son with a disability and her disability-focused financial planning expertise with our colleagues. From this session, hosted by the ENABLED ERG, it was clear that the challenges people with disabilities and their caregivers face are complicated, and warrants further education. Learning about the benefits available and financial vehicles is an important part of the process. I’ll leave the finances to the Financial Planners, but here are some other important takeaways: 1) Find a professional disability advocate to help you navigate benefits available; 2) Have a plan for care and finances; 3) Be assertive to make sure you get the care and coverage you need. #FromHereForward
