General Managers know our customers inside out, and they know our colleagues just as well. Tahir is General Manager of our Castle Vale store and has been with Currys for nearly 28 years, moving up from a temporary warehouse colleague to his current role. He's spent much of his time learning and developing his leadership skills but his people-first approach is his superpower. "How you interact with and treat colleagues matters. One of the team recently said to me, ‘I never noticed you don’t have “Manager” on your badge’. But whether it's doing deliveries or serving customers, I wouldn’t ask my team to do anything I wouldn’t do myself." Tahir also says that being humble is an important quality for a manager. Which, conversely, is pretty inspiring!
Earlier this month, our Digital Team came together for their very own awards ceremony – recognising the incredible achievements, teamwork, and dedication that powered us through our busy Peak trading period. Chris, Digital and Omnichannel Director, shared: "Hearing why the team had nominated their colleagues was truly inspiring, and the sheer number of nominations for each award blew us away!" A huge shoutout to our expert host Monika, the Digital Leadership team – Laila, Julia, Andy, and Leanne – and to Komal for capturing the celebrations and our amazing team of supporters who planned and organised the event, and, to their surprise won our Team of Teams award! Congratulations to everyone who was nominated, shortlisted, or took home a trophy – your talent, commitment, and team spirit continue to drive our success. 🟣
80% of the materials in a mobile phone are recyclable, and each year, we safely recycle 65,000 tonnes of waste electronics. 📱🌍 On International Mobile Phone Recycling Day, we’re proud of the sustainable solutions our colleagues deliver every day: repairing, recycling, and reducing waste to protect our planet. When customers need support, our in-store teams are ready to help. If a device needs more care, our expert repair specialists in Newark step in, resolving issues quickly, often returning devices in under seven days. And when a device can’t be repaired, they make sure valuable parts are responsibly recycled, contributing to a more sustainable, circular economy. By helping customers extend the life of their tech and reducing environmental impact, our teams are driving real change.
2024 was a landmark year for our social media team, who have put their all into showing how bold, authentic storytelling can inspire and connect with audiences in fresh and exciting ways. 🎉 “We’ve completely changed Gen Z and Millennial perceptions of Currys as a brand, through genuinely engaging content – with colleagues always at the forefront of what we do.” Ryan Todd, Currys Senior Social Media and PR Manager The team constantly push each other to think bigger, create bolder, and deliver work that not only grabs attention but helps everyone enjoy amazing technology. Together, they’re leading the way in social innovation – and proving that a caring, supportive team culture drives creativity and success. We can’t wait to see what Ryan and the team achieve in 2025 (and how much Gen Z slang we’ll all pick up along the way)! 🚀 hashtag#SocialMediaLeadership hashtag#EmployerBrand hashtag#TeamCurrys hashtag#Innovation

During our peak season, Corporate colleagues across the country switched their desks for a day on the shop floor, getting stuck in as a part of the in-store team during the busiest time of year in retail. 🖤 A huge thank you to the amazing store colleagues who supported their ‘new’ team members as they were helping customers try new products, serving them quickly, operating Click and Collect with maximum efficiency, solving complicated tech queries, and even lugging white goods around! Without exception, they demonstrate the dedication, expertise, and effort it takes to deliver outstanding service to our customers every day.
Famous on Black Friday! 🚀 Last week, we featured on ITV's This Morning, showcasing our epic Black Friday deals directly from our warehouse in Newark. Huge thanks to our amazing colleagues right across the business for their hard work this Black Friday, as well as the Newark team for their retro 80s fancy dress! 📦💪
Our annual Peak Event brings over 1,000 colleagues from across the business together, and with 50 supplier stands in 2024, our colleagues were able to get hands-on with the latest tech ahead of our peak trading season. Organising it is no mean feat, and Natalie, Senior Communications Manager: Planning, Events and Channels, plays a key role. In fact, she's already got Peak 2028 in the works. Reflecting on October's event, she said: "We had record numbers of colleagues telling us that 2024 was the best Peak event ever. Plus, everyone was impressed to see the actual Premier League cup 🏆, courtesy of Sky!" Special thanks to our amazing events agency partner, The fresh Group for helping us make it all happen. With our Peak trading season well under way, our colleagues are geared up with the latest tech knowledge, and ready to share it with our customers.
