"In Platform in Boozt, we have a "trailblazer initiative". The idea is to have regular meetings for all team leaders from our IT department. Today, we focused on the incident response process and issue escalation. The idea was to remind everyone how the process look and introduce late improvements in security incident management. We discussed how to improve processes, escalate issues, and ensure good collaboration and engagement. We started with reliability incidents. People engaged in the discussion, which was more than welcome. Engagement was higher than expected, and we ran out of time and could not cover security incidents. We started with the process itself. Team leaders were able to glance under the hood of the "SRE team engine" and hear what happens before the developers are engaged. Next, we discussed how to ensure issues are escalated to the development teams correctly and how they can be escalated inside the teams. Here, it helps the watch/bug master role, which is standard for our teams. We can still improve the propagation of issues when they reach developers. Another thing is to ensure communication is shared for better visibility over the issue, especially if it is cross-team. By setting lower CPU targets for preemptible instances, we maximize their usage and minimize costs, all while maintaining robust failover with on-demand instances when Google reclaims spot instances. Spot instances offer substantial cost advantages, even over CUD rates, but they require careful management due to their ephemeral nature. Boozt and Google discussed AI Before Easter Country Manager for Google Cloud in Denmark, Peter Bjerregaard Harden, visited the Boozt HQ to talk AI with Boozt Data Intelligence Director, Steffan Mølbæk Andersen as part of the Inspired with Boozt events arranged for employees. In front of a large and interested audience the two discussed how they are working with AI today, the impact of the technology as well as challenges and limitations. Head of Retail for Google Cloud Denmark, Thomas Friis Formann, was also present and joined the following Q&A.
