Team Member Spotlight: Kristin Adams, RN, BSN, RN Navigator for Trauma and Emergency Surgery Services with Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix. My career began in 2017 in the Outpatient Observation Unit, where I developed a comprehensive understanding of bedside nursing and learned to navigate the complexities of the healthcare system. This foundational experience enabled me to transition into the role of RN Operational Support Specialist, responsible for onboarding new nurses and support staff in both the Emergency Department and Observation Unit. Currently, I serve as the RN Navigator for the Trauma and Emergency Surgery Services (TESS) team. In this role, I oversee patient care from the initial contact through to discharge, ensuring smooth coordination across multidisciplinary teams and providing ongoing support to patients and their families. My primary focus is on discharge planning and patient education, empowering individuals to effectively manage their care after leaving the hospital. I am privileged to work alongside an exceptional team of Trauma Surgeons, Residents, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and care coordinators. I also collaborate with a dedicated group of RN Navigators, who share a commitment to providing the tools and support necessary for patients to navigate an increasingly complex healthcare landscape.

Team Member Spotlight: Dr. Jeremy Pruzin, Cognitive/Behavioral Neurologist with Banner Alzheimer’s Institute, Phoenix, AZ. The ability to pursue the answers to difficult questions is what inspired Dr. Pruzin to work in research and his quest to alleviate the burden of dementia on individuals, families, and society as a whole. Fourteen years ago, Dr. Pruzin started with Banner as a volunteer intern, before going to medical school, completing residency and fellowship, and then returning to Banner to contribute in the role of a well-respected physician and researcher over the last four years now. He keeps his original volunteer badge in his office as a reminder of how far he has come. Now as a Cognitive/Behavioral Neurologist with Banner Alzheimer's Institute, he works to understand the intersection of vascular risk factors and Alzheimer's disease pathology, especially years prior to when symptoms of cognitive decline and dementia begin, as young as those in midlife. Dr. Pruzin is bilingual (Spanish/English) and heavily engaged with the community, particularly focused on raising awareness about Alzheimer's disease and dementia in the Hispanic community. He helps to lead many community events through Banner Alzheimer's Institute, encouraging people who qualify for clinical trials to take part and help scientists learn how to better diagnose, prevent and treat the disease.
