I went through four rounds of interviews at tvScientific and was ghosted afterward—no follow-up. For a company that markets itself as innovative and data-driven, this unprofessional behavior was telling. The interview process itself felt misaligned with the expertise the company should prioritize. While there was a heavy focus on machine learning, the deeper principles of econometrics, statistics and causal inference—the foundations for rigorous decision-making—were notably absent. These gaps were concerning, especially for a company whose name suggests a focus on scientific rigor. It seemed like they were more interested in protecting the current way they do things (ML / physics / CS-- fields distant from causal social mechanisms) as opposed to innovating (causal inference, econometrics, statistics). tvScientific seems to face significant challenges in aligning its technical approach with its mission. At one point, an interviewer expressed being surprised their technology appeared to work. The lack of communication throughout the process only reinforced my concerns about how the company operates. Based on this experience, I’m not hopeful about their future and would caution others to consider these issues before engaging or avoid this company.
