Approx. 30 min. phone screen asking perfunctory questions about motivation, strengths/challenges, etc. Tell me about a time when... Walk me through your résumé..
From the very beginning, the entire thing felt like an elaborate charade-Were they really eliminating or advancing people based on this insipid prattle? Never followed-up, but were exceedingly courteous when I did, so gold star there. Ultimately, it appears that they hired for a less senior position which was not the position for which the firm solicited applications. No doubt to keep salary expenses low or something as a startup boutique firm. Also the successful candidate is a "big green" alumna-coincidence or nepotism?
Had high hopes that they were really hiring for a senior role and would be more communicative. Dishonorable and disappointing. I wouldn't bother applying here or at least adjust expectations to match relative salaries. In brief, I expected more as a job-seeker from a business whose social media is constantly littered with a lot of pseudo-liberal lip service on leveraging talent from diverse and non-traditional "local" populations. Typical NOLA employer-behavior.

The interview process was a casual series of one phone screen and 3 meetings over several weeks. I first met with the Managing Director on a Saturday in a coffee shop. We chatted about my story, fit for the role, and professional and personal interests and goals. I then met with the Advisory Services Director a few weeks later, and we talked more specifically about my work experience and skills. Lastly, the next week I met each member of the team . They asked me a variety of questions pertaining to my knowledge and character fit. It was a comfortable and fair process.

I was connected to the Managing Director for a different purpose, but then saw the posting on the company's website. It seemed like a great fit. I first did a phone screen with one of the associates who was very professional and interesting. I was then asked to meet the Managing Director in person at a coffee shop two weeks later, and we hit it off from the beginning. From there, about a week later, I met with the COO and discussed my experience and interests further, also at a coffee shop. Finally, a week later I went into the office to meet each member of the team 1:1. Meeting the team was a bit redundant, but at the same time, I did enjoy the opportunity to meet each of my potential coworkers. The process was a bit long, but it was clear that cultural fit was/is a priority, and it is difficult to get a read on someone's character from their resume alone.
