      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 5 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez pMD (San Francisco, CA) en mars 2019

      Entretien

The communication throughout the interviewing process was amazing. The people were so friendly and personable, they really care about the people she was connecting with. I felt great through this entire process. The first interview was a typical phone screen. Second was a technical phone with the hiring manager. A few technical questions were asked but mainly stuck to background and"process". Third was another interview with higher level management, again very friendly asked a few technical questions. I felt amazing throughout this whole process. The last interview, they flew me out to San Francisco to meet with a panel of people. We started with a tour of the office, which was a nice space. Had a lunch then jumped into the panel interview. The panel consisted of 3 people. This process was extremely intense and at one point, I wanted to stop the interview and ask if they wanted me to just leave. First question was if I could develop any app what would it be and why. Then, I was asked to go to the whiteboard and outline a scenario. If I were having a dinner party and between each person there was one chopstick to the right and one chopstick to the left, how would I ensure all guest were fed in a reasonable amount of time? The guest can only use the chopstick right next to them and only one guest can use a chopstick at a time and they have to use both. This was a good exercise to get me thinking outside of the box. Then I was handed a piece of paper with 4 coding questions and I was given paper to write the code out on. One of the panel members moved his chair around the table and sat right next to me hovering over my shoulder and was literally 6 inches away. This is the moment where I panicked and completed folded under pressure. Having someone over my shoulder, I was not even able to read the questions on the page. The last round was a simulation of a physician calling and needing help. The rest quickly ended. I provided my feedback on how I completely folded under pressure and the feedback was this was by design and intended to be extremely intense. My recommendation, if you want to test a coders ability - send a take home exam to be returned the next day. If you want to test how well someone can code with extreme pressure, continue on. My take away was if testing extreme "intense situations" was a goal, the day to day environment likely replicates this which is why this is important to them. This was not an environment I was looking to transition to. Based on the in person experience, had I received an offer, I would have declined.
