Applied through angel-list and got a response in a day or two. Was scheduled for a phone interview with the co-founder and CEO on the weekend. Got the call pretty much on time. Was asked about overall work ex and current project. The product part was pretty much typical but he was not satisfied with typical answers. Went on to a lot of business cases. Enjoyed the debate. Wasn't easy though. At the end of an hour or so, the founder gave a hint that I was through the first round. He spoke about the company and the expectations from the role and said I will be scheduled for a second round on Skype.
The second round happened on a week day and on Skype screen-share. I was shown their product on one of their well-known client's website and was asked about my feedback and thoughts. Came up with some original ideas and cleared the second round. Tip: Original ideas work well in a Product interview.
I was invited to their office in Indira Nagar where the I met the HR and a couple of team members. Had a tea and discussed the stuff they are working on. It's a startup atmosphere as expected and their work is exactly something that I have been really looking to work on - the exact aspects of AI and its business applications. The founder seemed very passionate and knowledgeable.
Received a call after a couple of days, the offer was discussed and emailed. My ask was accepted without really any negotiation and I accepted the offer.

Applied to job on LinkedIn with "Remote" filter, it was tagged as "Remote" and in the JD had "Remote First' as a benefit. Then on the call they explain they will have an office and are moving "fully in-office" essentially at any moment. I immediately left the interview process because I found this deeply unethical.

Had only one round and in 10 minutes, I realized that this was not an interview to hire, but a Un-ethical means to scalp for information about the product that my company has built. They never asked me for my resume to be shared though I offered to. All they wanted my linkedin profile since it had information of the product that I had built. The only round I had was with the CEO. He did not turn on his camera, was on mute multiple times, that I had to ask him to get off mute. All he wanted was to get in-depth information of the product, which I refused to divulge. He pushed for me to show him a demo of the product in the interview, I told get in touch with the sales team. He never introduced himself, he never asked me about my skills, all he wanted was to understand how my company built our core product. In short, I think if this is the core of what the leadership is built on , un-ethically trying to build products based on scalping information from other, god help this place.
