      Entretien pour Project Engineer

      Expérience négative

      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 3 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez bp (Perth, Australie-Occidentale) en oct. 2022

      Entretien

To my surprise, I had a one-stage interview. My resume was screened and I managed to land an online interview. Two Discipline Leads from PM dialled in - one from Houston and one from London. No HR representative was present which was odd.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

They asked questions about agility, demonstration of core values (Safety, Courage, Excellence), working under pressure, conflict resolution, unexpected events, minimal Technical questions on project management. Lots of questions were vague and not particularly, common behavioural questions. So expect the unexpected. I didn't have a good experience as it was very robotic and scripted. They both read out from the screen, did not take down notes as I talked and read out questions one after each other. Understand it is an interview but there was a lack of human personal touch. I could not connect with them and they weren't smiling or joking or spending time to get to know me - it made me feel very uncomfortable and not be my truest self. Funny how their role is to literally work with people and adjust to people's characters in project management so I thought they would be more personal. One of them kept chugging her coffee and it was so off-putting. Seemed like she did not want to be there and I was wasting her time. They could have started with a "Tell me about yourself" question to break the ice and I would've been more chatty. I'm not one to stutter or say "umms" but it all came out because of how awkward the interview was. Definitely a bad first impression if I'm being honest. Perhaps, that's an example of work in bp, very hierarchal and lack of empathy. Bear in mind, I stayed up till 9PM for an interview, after a long day of work to cater them in their time zones. At the end of the interview, I did not receive any information on the next step or a close-out to the interview at least. Just a "thank you, bye". Odd interview. Definitely a learning experience.
