I had a take-home problem, one Manager interview and another technical interview with several members of the team. Both in-person interviews were conversational and practical. The take home was short and practical as well.

I had a phone call with the engineering manager for about a half an hour which seemed to go pretty well. I had a good idea of what the job would be like and how things function on the team. After that, I was asked to complete a take home technical assignment which consisted of building a small application. I spent several hours completing this assignment and turned it in. After one day, I received an email saying that they would not be moving forward with my application and that they would not be giving any feedback.
I found this to be very frustrating that I spent several hours building something for them, but they could not take a few moments to provide feedback on the assignment. I don't think I have ever had a company for which I've done a take home assignment for deny this request.

Question 1
The phone call was pretty generic-- just behavioral. The technical assessment was pretty straightforward, but the backend portion was kind of weird. Rather than write a markdown of a proposed database structure or just build out a backend for the app, they wanted a SQL code file for the proposed database (even though they had already provided a JSON data file with the assignment).
