      Entretien

Interviewed a few months ago. Process included a number of non-technical and technical interviews, and then a four-hour 'virtual onsite'. For the virtual onsite, I was asked to prepare an hour-long presentation, which I gave to a panel. The interviews seemed reasonable, except the two whiteboard coding sessions included in the onsite. I didn't do very well, and chalked it up to my lack of experience with algorithms. That is, until I looked up the problem I was given-- turns out, it was a Leetcode Hard problem! So, I was expected to complete a Leetcode hard in 45 minutes while under the pressure of having an interviewer watching me. I think this is ridiculous and counter-productive.

First stage is the manager phone interview. If this goes well it’s followed by 4x 1-1 onsite interviews which are technical and behavioral and then a presentation to a group about a previous project that is relevant to the job

Standard interview process : Application => recruiter call => coding assessment => Onsite panel with presentation(relevant projects and background) Let me start with the positives, the recruiting team were exceptional. They very responsive, transparent and consistently shared updates about the process and what to expect. You start with the standard application, recruiter call, then a coding assessment (language and questions depends on the role) (take home) Followed by 4 onsite rounds with presentation about couple of projects and a small deep dive. Most of my interviewers were very professional, asked good and relevant questions and were supportive, except the hiring manager itself. In my 12 years of working in software engineering industry and conducting/being part of several interviews, this was unquestionably the worst and rudest hiring manager I have ever spoken to. Their conduct during all rounds of interview was highly disappointing and I was appalled that a company like Wisk is allowing this. To start of, they did not introduce themselves (understandable at times), did not provide any context of the team, the work, their needs or vision( again its recommended but understandable still maybe) and jumped to grilling, questioning decisions from 10 years ago and were straight up very unprofessional, disrespectful . Their tone and manner were dismissive and discourteous throughout the discussion. Instead of engaging in professional conversation, they focused on probing questions about experiences over a decade ago while showing little interest in current or relevant work. I was very surprised by this. It’s concerning that a reputed company would tolerate/allow this kind of behavior from its own hiring manager. To the leadership team, this isn’t a rant or an AI generated response, but an honest observation. I personally have developed trauma from this interview process. I strongly urge you to look into this individual’s behavior and your interview process to ensure it aligns with the company’s values and standards. PS: I am not saying all the interviewers or hiring managers are rude, but this one felt inhumane and had red flags from min 1 of our conversation all over. I have never felt this strong negative emotion after an interview and it’s been couple months and I still feel this. Hence I decided to write this review.
