I was an internal applicant. I was given a task to prepare before the interview, which was a 5 minute presentation on key current consumer policy issues. The interview was an hour by video call, which comprised the presentation, a couple of follow up questions, and competency-based questions. It was conducted by two policy heads.
I was told the next stage would be an interview with the director and that I would hear by the end of the week (which was in 4 days). I had to chase this the following week when I did not hear anything, to be told that more time to deliberate was needed. I heard back 4 weeks later and was told that I did not get the position as it had been offered to someone "older and with more experience".
