Extremely long in-person interview. It took almost 3 hours (which I was not informed of ahead of time). I was given an unnecessary tour of their location where I was shown their coffee bar, snack machines, and then a special wall mural. The interviewer took about 45 minutes to explain the significance of each part of the mural and its importance to the company culture. I thought this would be a helpful first-day activity if I was hired, but for an interview, it seemed out-of-place. I was eventually taken to a glass room where I was given a pretty grueling interview -- which included inappropriate questions such as where my partner worked. This went on for hours during which tim I wasn't offered food or water. I was also surprised, since I was applying for a management position job -- that I was given three SAT type tests at the end of the interview that were each individually timed. I didn't feel that this was a relevent way to judge someone applying for a copy editing or writing position and wished instead that I had been judged by my expansive portfolio -- as I have been accessed in other professional settings. When I was done being tested, I was informed by the interviewer that the job I had actually applied for was already filled and that instead they had an entry-level position that I might be interested in. As someone with many years under my belt in this field, this was insulting -- especially given the fact that I had just wasted hours of my time under false pretenses. I would not have given my valuable time to an interview had I known it was for an entry level position -- which pays far less than I was making at my current position. Afterwards, I never recieved any follow-up. I can tell that this is not a good work environment from the way my time was not respected from beginning to end.
