I was called for an interview a couple days after applying online. Since I couldn't make it there at 9 AM, they let me go in at 11AM. I was the only one there, and I spoke to a lady at HR. She just wanted to verify details on my online application, and I asked her a lot of questions about the store, and she was very friendly. She asked if I could go back at 2PM for an interview with the Store Manager. When I went back at 1:45 there were about 20 people all waiting to see the store manager. Apparently they all had their interviews that morning at 9AM too... I had to sign in, and then wait for an hour and a half before seeing the manager. He was trying to be intimidating, or so the others said. But I admit, he did make me feel quite nervous. The toughest question for me, has always been, "Why should we hire you?". So be very prepared. After a five minute interview, he told me to go back after a couple days. From that 20 only about 5 were hired. Starting salary is $8.40 for Cashiers. They're only hiring part time, but do have opportunities for promotion. And in 1 year, if you're still part time, you're eligible for benefits and vacation.
Anyways, I went in after a couple days, and filled out some paperwork, and verified my information on their system. And then I was given a form and asked to go to a nearby clinic for a drug test within the next 24 hours. Once the results for that, and a background check come back, HR will call me, to start orientation by the end of the week.
