I went through all rounds of the interviews- screening, then 1-1 with hiring manager, and then a 3.5 hourish long panel interview - and a take home assignment (after screening, before 1-1). but was unfortunately not selected after the final round. My experience, however, was positive. All interviewers were kind and encouraging. The recruiter, who was very communicative throughout, was kind and told me about the rejection over the phone. It stings regardless, but at least I was able to receive feedback and he gave me an opportunity to ask any questions I had (they told me they really liked me but just found someone with more experience). Seeing just how many companies will ghost you or refuse to provide any feedback after rejecting you, I appreciate these little things. I will say, I do think that a take home assignment and a 3+ hours long panel interview would and should be considered an overkill for an intermediate-level position with extremely average pay (esp for Boston), but that's unfortunately not unheard of, so there's that.
