Note: I only had my AC yesterday so I don't know my outcome. I've put no offer at the moment but can update when I find out! The process for me only took about 1.5-2 months at most, Vodafone are really quick to get back to you. However, I would recommend having some form of online login for application updates rather than just email! The application process is split into four parts, the initial application, online tests, video interview and assessment centre. The first two stages are pretty self explanatory, for the online tests just do some practice online beforehand and you should be fine! I think I remember them being numercial and verbal reasoning. The video interview was probably what I consider to be the weirdest part. I've done video interviews before so I was familiar with the context but the questions asked were quite different to what you would expect so I would recommend doing some research beforehand to get an insight. But overall if you are prepared then its not too difficult! The AC was probably my favourite part of the whole process as well as being my favourite AC I've ever attended. I interviewed in Newbury HQ and it took place pretty much all in this one room with about 40 of us but this room is huge. All the current graduates, assessors and facilitators came across incredibly friendly and really want you to do well and are not trying to trip you up - honestly! The AC was split into four sections, 2 group exercises (one is problem solving based and one is product review based - not much else I can say), a 1-1 interview and a presentation. For all the exercises just be yourself, it is quite a long day so if you put on some kind of facade then it will be quite tiring keeping that up so can easily be noticed! Also, for Technology streams, be aware that your presentation is based on a different subject than everyone elses. Again, its not too complicated but have to use your imagination a bit. Lunch was also very nice as well (pizza, sweet potato and salads) and the day was finished off with the nice tour of the campus from current graduates (who are very approachable and you can talk to all throughout the day) which made me fall in love with the place and the work culture so I hope I hear some good news soon! Thank you for Vodafone for putting on an incredibly organised AC and for having such an enjoyable day!

      Question 1

Why Vodafone? Why the stream you applied for? What has been a technical problem that you have overcome?

Great feedback and you are right, it's best to be yourself at any assessment day.

Applied on 10th January and completed the HireVue stage. There was 4 Q's and 3 game tasks. In terms of the HireVue stage, there were general STAR Q's and games - you can find examples on YouTube so you can get a feel of what will be expected. However, Vodafone is not an attentive company. After applying, I received no updates on what stage my application was on. So, after a month I sent a follow up email asking what stage my application was at currently as I know graduate programs are competitive. I received a generic reply from the youth recruitment team stating they've had a high number of applicants and currently reviewing them, which I expected. Finally, another month later (2 months from my initial application) I received a generic email stating all the positions have been filled. For a graduate, it seems a waste a time to apply when you are not provided with updates and are expected to do a video interview stage. I would prefer a stricter aptitude & psychometric stage, this way all of the video interviews are actually reviewed. Otherwise, it seems a waste of time to research the company values, mission, culture and current projects.

It was a 3-4 step interview process. One part was like virtual interview without a human and the other was like reasoning and math test. The automated part was buggy, and they seemed disorganized with it. The in-person one seemed organized but certain employees are cold. Even though it was for a technical stream I could only tell 1 person was an actual "tech" aware person who was interviewing (on my end). Meaning the person was actually someone you could discuss complex technology stuff and can tell he/she understand what you are talking about. They do not really check on your technical skills during most part of the process. The virtual assestment was very time consuming and overall it looked like what they are looking for is someone who fits their box, doesn't question processes, someone that acts like they are a team player and agrees to everything in order to not come across as offensive or problematic even if by doing that will lead a product to fail. Which makes me think that that is why they keep having bad reviews about their customer service, they do not know how to handle or process feedback in the Greece office, though in other countries they seem to be doing better. They ask you to provide "anonymous feedback" in the end (please be wary that even though they say it is anonymous they provide no actual proof that it is, so it might end up being another way by which you are evaluated.) If even though they take much of your time and ask for feedback, don't expect they provide you with feedback. Unfortunately they keep advertizing this opening but there is no transparency on how many people they actually hire and it looks like they already know who they want to hire and they are behind with their interviews. If they end up hiring you they will treat you nice but companies that are worth it treat everyone nice especially the ones that claim to support equality. Enough said.
