J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Virginia Commonwealth University
Entretien
The initial video interview went well and I recieved an offer for a second interview but the department said they could not afford to reimburse any travel costs. Their invitation email stated that they strongly encouraged candidates to attend the 1 hour interview in person not that it was required. I lived out of state and could not afford to fly or drive the long distance and get a hotel room especially for a one hour interview for a position i may or may not get. When I explained my situation and asked about having a virtual interview since the initial email did not say in-person was required, I was told that it was required for candidates to come on campus for the interview. They cited it as an "equity issue" but i found it in equitable for people of low financial means and that the "equity issue" could have simply been resolved by offering virtual as an interview option to all candidates. I do not understand why if the department could not afford travel costs for candidates why the candidates are expected to cover travel costs if they lack financial means. I had to withdraw my application due to my inability to afford travel which was disappointing since I liked the position and people in my first interview. The situation certainly made me not want to apply to any more positions at VCU.
