Started great, I was really excited by the work they were doing and felt like it was a perfect match. Great interviews, felt it they were very positive on both sides. Then...they make you go through a "cultural fit test," followed up by an hour talking with a psychologist.
The test was terrible, took nearly 2 hours, and many of the questions were more politically charged than I think is work appropriate. Let's just say, I'd probably know how you vote after looking at your answers. The psychologist interview was "ok" ...but why? All I can say is they must have had some bad hiring in the past, but this is not the solution. It really makes for a negative early impression when you are trying to attract talent.
Well, I apparently blew the culture test and psych eval. I felt a very positive experience sour immediately and never heard from them again. I'm proud of my work history, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have accomplished what I have, nor built the work relationships I have if this psych test was accurate.
In some ways it worked, I dodged that bullet and went on to a great job with a company that doesn't believe in this kind of approach because they actually know how to interview and find great people.
