A LOT OF WORK FOR NOTHING. I put so much work into the interview. I've been teaching for 18 years with great success. I looked into this opportunity as supplemental income and the interview process was horrible. I had to do two mock lessons. The first one with the person at VIPKID was fine. The second one was another teacher and I wanted to cry at the end of it. I felt like she was negative and not encouraging at all. People are nervous during interviews. I had props and had spent HOURS preparing for the lesson. The comments she made at the end of the interview were CONTRADICTORY to the material and instructions in the lesson. She stated that I was not prepared but either she was not prepared or we were given totally different material. Awful experience. THEN, they sent me an email that I did not get the job. So I threw all the materials out and thought I guess this is meant to be. Then they sent me another email saying "well, you were almost good enough-come to another training and interview again and maybe you will do better"? So basically spend more hours prepping and probably get another incompetent interviewer? They still send me emails all the time to come back. I felt that my bad experience was an indication of lack of organization , communication, and proper training.
Questions d'entretien [1]
Question 1
I don't remember them asking me anything. I just did mock lessons that they sent me to prepare ahead of time.

Application: Submit basic information (e.g., education, teaching experience) via VIPKid’s platform 35.
Demo Lesson: Choose between two options:
Smart Demo: A 5-minute recorded lesson (can be retaken) with a provided slide 319.
Live Demo: A 30-minute video call with a recruiter acting as a student, offering real-time feedback 320.
Mock Class: Teach a 10-minute lesson to a mentor posing as a student, focusing on VIPKid’s curriculum (e.g., Level 2-3 or 4-5) 312.
Training & Certification: Complete mandatory TESOL/TEFL training (if not already certified) 314.
Simple and straightforward. They give you all the demo material, which ends up being your PowerPoint slide. They look for a few simple markers to evaluate the teaching style, and the rest is pretty straightforward.
I interviewed with VIPKid back in the golden days, of showing an initial mock interview, followed by an offer, and then doing a lesson with the mock teacher/ Mentor. It was pass or fail. Today, it's a bit different. You apply, give your mock interview to the company and your pay rate is based on a tier system of total classes taught.
