I was flagged down by the counter manager as I was walking through Macy's, who ended up asking for my resume after a minute of talking. An interview was scheduled for me 3 days later, and the actual verbal interview lasted about 30 minutes long. We then did the audition part of the interview, where I actually had to pull a customer from the floor and do their makeup. I managed to snag a customer in less than 10 minutes, and did her eye makeup for her. She ended up purchasing $80 worth of makeup, which the counter manager was pleased with. He then called up his senior managers, who came by to meet me, and one of them actually interviewed me as well on the spot. A few days later, they scheduled a phone interview for me with the other senior manager, and the same day, was called back and asked to submit my information for the background check, which is the final stage of the hiring process.
They drug test you as well. It's a urine drug test outsourced through a different company.
For your interview, make sure to wear all black and a full face of makeup.
