I was contacted by phone initially. The conversation was very minimal. I was asked to confirm my highest level of education and then scheduled for an in-person interview.
I was asked to complete a series of 4 online assessments prior to the in-person interview. One was a DISC assessment which is fine but the second one was completely irrelevant to the job I was interviewing for as the questions were centered around a retail environment; asking me things like how I would know when a customer was going to purchase the product and why it's important to greet every customer when they walk into the store.
Upon arriving for the in-person interview I was asked to complete 2 timed tests. I found these quite irrelevant as well as one of them asked me to complete 50 questions based on mathematical series. The second one had 200 questions, each with a pair of numbers which you had to indicate if it was the same number or not. You had 4 minutes to complete each test which is near impossible if you wanted to be accurate.
I was then told that the person I was to meet with wasn't there and I was to meet another gentleman instead. The interview was very short, maybe about 20 minutes (it was as if they did the phone interview bit in-person).
They explained that they were looking for more of a fit than someone with just the qualifications which is fair.

This isn’t about the interview process. It’s about the job applications. I applied for roles at Uline where I met all the qualifications listed on the posting, yet I received a rejection email within a single day. I applied again after a couple of months and experienced the same immediate rejections repeatedly. It feels like candidate experience is not valued, and the postings may not reflect genuine hiring needs.
For my first interview in over 10 years, I think that it went smoothly. However, the interviewer kept looking to the side which made it distracting and it felt like he wasn't paying attention to my responses.
The interview lasted 30 minutes. Good questions asked. Clearly looking for someone who has experience in manufacturing, which I didn't have. Seems like a decent opportunity for growth for this person to get their new Columbus branch off the ground.
