I met with a recruiter in my hometown and we started the long process of getting me enlisted. One thing I noticed was that I had to reach out to my recruiter to keep the process going--rather than him hounding me, I had to be on top of everything, which was good. We went through the initial screenings, and then through the ASVAB, and a few other mandatory appointments. Generally speaking, it was pretty straightforward but took a long time. Be prepared to be offered additional money to add two years to your enlistment, which is a bad idea.
