The hiring process consists of obtaining a qualifying score on a test to qualify for a job. If you choose to get on the list to be an aircraft maintainer you will wait until there is an opening and go to Basic Training then Aircraft Maintenance Fundamentals School followed by Specialization School. From there it's not a matter of where you want to go, but where you're assigned.
Spoke with the recruiter prior to going to MEPS. I Took ASVAB to confirm eligibility. If you don't like working outside, do not select this job. The culture of the flight line can be difficult, but if you work hard you will be fine.
