A similar theme to other applicants, I had a quick 30-minute interview with a corporate recruiter for the position shortly after applying online. The call went great. An overview of the company was given, their products and structure of the position and some light-IT talk. They asked where my pay is now, I told them and they said it was perfect. The recruiter said my resume would be passed on to the hiring manager (the CIO I believe...) but his schedule was wonky so I may not hear anything for a few days. Sounds good. No problem. Totally understand.
Three weeks later and nothing. No communication. Just total ghosting. Funny thing is, this is the second position I interviewed for with TwentyEighty and the same thing happened then too. This was about a year ago. "I'll pass your resume to the hiring manager" and...silence. At that time I followed up to see how things were going and I received back a rather curt message informing me that my resume was passed on to the hiring manager. Never even received a "The position has been filled."
I'm not bothering to check in this time.
Because I see other interviews at TwentyEighty going the same way, a couple of things need to happen:
1) Please let applicants know if you pass on them. It's just common courtesy. If mammoth Fortune 500 companies can do it, there's no reason a smaller outfit can't.
2) If there's a large gap between what the recruiter is passing over to hiring managers and the needs of said manager then something needs to be addressed in the hiring process.
For fellow applicants: Your time may be wasted.
