I was an internal applicant, so my experience may differ from the norm. However, I was coming from a completely different and unrelated department in a different state.
I submitted the application, was contacted within the same week to schedule an interview. As I would have to travel (this was a couple years before the pandemic so virtual interviews weren’t as big of a thing yet), my interview was scheduled about a week and a half out.
Hartford office location was extremely nice and well-kept (and is even nicer now after all the renovations). You’ll receive an email explaining how to navigate through the city and how to locate the correct building, where you’ll check in with security and be directed from there.
I met with the manager at that time (who the applicant would be working directly under), he was very easy to talk to, sensed that I was a tad nervous (as this was my first “adult” job) and diverted into more personal questions such as hobbies and stuff (to see if I was a cultural fit). That brief break helped me gather myself so that he could continue some of the technical questions , which I answered with much more ease . He stated that he thought I was a good fit and since I traveled down there, he went to take advantage to go get his Lead to knock out both interviews at once - I agreed. The Lead was friendly but, definitely much more strictly business.
I’d say the overall interview lasted about 1 hr 45 mins. Fairly simple interview process as long as you have both decent soft skills and a decent knowledge base in that area or can demonstrate aptitude in another technical area.
