- first round interview with HR intern - second round with the mentor/leadership team Overall, the recruitment process is quite messy and dishonest. In the first round interview, the interviewer admitted that my skill set and experience were a match and invited me to the second round interview. But when I tried to suggest another time for this second round due to a time conflict on my end, they ghosted me for a couple of days and abruptly rejected me without giving me the interview. This is disheartening also given that all intern positions are unpaid and voluntary and those applying for these positions are willing to put effort and time into something that is solely mission-driven without compensation. I get the impression that the organization doesn't really value having these candidates and uses them only as unpaid labor. Another concern is that the position title does not necessarily correlate with the actual work given. I had a doubt whether the SD intern position actually does software development (given that this non-profit is loosely related to tech) and when I asked HR, they had no clue what each position is about.
